Concerns on Google App Engine

I was trying to test some features on the google appengine and my main concern was to upload some large pictures and save them ofcourse in my database.
I used the high replication datastore and everything is indeed really fast and stable.
My main problem was that i was able to upload a picture ( i tested until the size of 7 Mbytes ) but i could not save it altogether.
The new appengine 1.4 lets apps to handle a request until the size of 32Mbytes but it is a bit "stupid" not being to save it as a piece event a blobbstore!
Please help...
